What is PVD coating?
Time:2022-06-01 Clicks:

PVD is the abbreviation of Physical Vapor Deposition in English, which means "physical vapor deposition" in Chinese, which refers to the thin film preparation technology of depositing materials on the workpiece to be plated by physical methods under vacuum conditions.

PVD coating technology can be divided into three categories: vacuum evaporation coating, vacuum sputtering coating and vacuum ion coating. Corresponding to the three major types of PVD technology, the corresponding vacuum coating equipment includes vacuum evaporation coating machine, vacuum sputtering coating machine and vacuum ion coating machine.

In the past ten years, vacuum ion plating technology has developed the fastest and has become one of the most advanced surface treatment methods. The so-called PVD coating refers to vacuum ion coating; PVD coating machine usually refers to vacuum ion coating machine.

The specific principle of PVD coating (ion coating) technology is that under vacuum conditions, arc discharge technology with low voltage and high current is used to evaporate the target material through gas discharge. The evaporated substances and gases are ionized, and the evaporated substances and their reaction products pass through The acceleration of the electric field deposits on the workpiece. Films deposited by PVD coating technology have the characteristics of high hardness, high wear resistance (low coefficient of friction), good corrosion resistance and chemical stability, and longer service life. At the same time, the thin film layer can greatly improve the appearance and decorative properties of the workpiece.

PVD coating technology

It is a truly environmentally friendly surface treatment method that can obtain micron-level coatings and no pollution. Various single metal thin films (such as aluminum, titanium, zirconium, chromium, etc.), nitride films (TiN, ZrN, CrN, TiAlN), carbide films (TIC, TiCN), and oxide films (such as TiO, etc.) can be prepared ). ).The thickness of PVD coating is micron level and relatively thin, generally 0.3m~5m, and the thickness of decorative coating is generally 0.3m~1m, so it can almost improve the surface of the workpiece without affecting the original size of the workpiece. Various physical and chemical properties, no further processing is required after plating. At present, the film colors that PVD coatings can make are deep golden yellow, light golden yellow, brown, bronze, gray, black, gray black, seven colors, etc. By controlling the relevant parameters during the coating process, the color of the coating can be controlled. After coating, the color can be quantified by measuring the color with relevant instruments to determine whether the color after coating meets the requirements.
